Data Privacy Statement

We are pleased that you have visited the Matzen & Timm GmbH website. Protecting your personal data from your visit is very important to us. We therefore undertake to protect your privacy and treat your data as confidential and in accordance with date protection laws. With this declaration, we want to inform you as to what personal data of yours will be collected by us in relation to your visit to our website and how it will be used.

Since changes in the law or changes to our internal processes may require an adjustment of this data protection policy, we ask that you reread this policy each time you access the website.

I. Personal data

Personal data is data regarding personal and factual information concerning identified or identifiable customers. Information that we cannot relate to your person (or only by using disproportionate effort) is not personal data.

II. What data is collected and processed by us?

You can use our website without having to disclose your identity to us.

Personal data nevertheless arises from your use of our website. We set out below what data this is, why we process it and to what extent we process is.

1. Log files

As is the case any time you use the internet, data trails concerning your usage remain on our servers for technical reasons when you access our sites. The following data is sent to our servers by your Internet browser and recorded in what are known as log files:

  • the website from which you access our website (referrer URL),
  • the web pages of our website visited by you,
  • date and time of your visit,
  • type and version of the browser used,
  • the operating system used,
  • the language used and
  • Internet Protocol (IP) address of the device that establishes the Internet connection.

This data does not allow conclusions to be made about a particular person. The data is only analysed in the event that our website is misused. It is not used for other purposes, such as for statistical purposes.

2. Cookies

Cookies are used on our website to make your visit more appealing and allow you to use certain functions. These are small text files that are stored on your computer. Most of the cookies installed by our website are deleted from your hard drive at the end of the browser session (known as session cookies). Other cookies remain on your computer and allow us to recognise your computer the next time you visit (persistent cookies).

If you do not want cookies to be stored on your computer, please disable the storage of cookies in your browser for our website or set your browser so that cookies are generally not stored on your computer.

Disabling cookies may require a permanent cookie to be stored on your computer. If you subsequently delete this cookie, you must disable the cookies again.

The following cookies are used on our website (the following information may be shown on a sub-website):

a. Session ID

To facilitate browsing on our website, we use what is known as a session ID (session identifier) that is assigned to each visitor each time they start their session. This session ID allows our server to recognise you or your computer/browser as the same visitors despite the IP address possibly changing in the meantime. This session ID allows several related queries of a user to be assigned to one session. The session ID cookie used by us is only valid until the end of a session. It is automatically deleted when leaving the browser.

b. Piwik cookie

To create web statistics, we use persistent cookies from the web statistics software Piwik. For more information, please refer to section II 3. a.

c. Facebook buttons

This website uses what are known as social plugins from the social network Facebook, which is operated by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA. These social plugins are recognisable by the Facebook logo.

With the "Like" button and the "Share" button, you can agree to our online content or easily recommend it to your friends on Facebook. We have decided not to already activate these buttons when integrating them on our pages. You must first activate them by clicking with the mouse. The reason for this is that integrating already activated buttons on the website means data is sent directly to Facebook. In theory, Facebook would therefore be able to create surfing profiles of users of our website. Our disabled buttons make no contact with Facebook. The buttons are only enabled after activating the function of the buttons by clicking. It is only then that a connection is made to the Facebook servers and you can use their functions. This activation is only valid for your current visit to our website. You must activate the buttons again every time you visit the site to be able to use them. If you are not logged in to Facebook, then you will be asked to log in in a new window and will then be able to make your recommendation or share content. If you are already logged in to Facebook, you can make your recommendation without another window appearing.

We cannot influence the scope of the data collected in this way by Facebook. If the button is activated, Facebook in any case receives information indicating that you have accessed the corresponding page of our website. If you are logged in to Facebook at the same time, Facebook can assign the corresponding visits to the website to your account. If you interact further with the social plugins, such as clicking the "Like" button, the corresponding information is sent to Facebook. Even if you are not a member of Facebook, there is the possibility that Facebook can identify and possibly store your IP address via the social plug-in. For details about the purpose and scope of data processing, collection and usage by Facebook and your related rights and setting options, please refer to the Facebook data protection policy:

If you do not want Facebook to collect data about you via our website and to link it with your membership data, do not click the buttons (as described above). In addition, you can block the social plugins using add-ons for your browser; for example, you can use the Facebook Blocker to block the Facebook plugin, which can be downloaded here:

d. Vimeo – video plugin (Google Analytics/New Relic)

To show you our product videos, there is a plugin implemented on our website belonging to Vimeo LCC, 555 West 18th Street, New York, New York 10011, USA (“Vimeo”). This plugin uses cookies. Once you visit a sub-page of our website on which such plugins are installed, a direct connection is established between your browser and the servers of Vimeo LCC. Due to this direct connection, the data required for this connection, as described in section II.1, is sent to Vimeo LCC.

If you have a Vimeo account and are logged in while using our website, Vimeo LCC may assign your visit to our website to your account. If you click on one of our videos, Vimeo LCC receives this information. Whether and to what extent LCC Vimeo uses this data is beyond our scope of influence. In this regard, we refer to the additional information of Vimeo LCC:

If you do not want data sent to Vimeo LCC, please disable the storage of cookies in your browser for the Vimeo LCC website or set your browser so that cookies are generally not stored on your computer.

The Vimeo plugin itself uses several plugins, over which we have no influence. To our knowledge, the following plugins are used:

Google Analytics

The Vimeo Plugin uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service provided by Google Inc. (“Google”) and based on the use of cookies. The Google Analytics cookie allows your use of the Vimeo plugin to be analysed. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the plugin is typically sent to and stored by Google on servers in the USA. Google Analytics is aimed at evaluating your use of the Vimeo Plugins, compiling reports on activities and providing other services relating to use and Internet usage. You can prevent cookies from being stored on your computer by configuring your browser settings appropriately. Furthermore, to prevent Google from collecting and processing the data generated by the cookie relating to your use of the website (including your IP address), you can download and install the browser plugin available using the following link.

For more information, refer to or (general information about Google Analytics and data protection at Google).

New Relic

The "New Relic" plugin from the provider New Relic Inc., 188 Spear Street, Suite 1200, San Francisco, CA 94105, USA is used as part of the Vimeo plugin. This plugin is used for the technical analysis of the server used to monitor the accessibility and performance of the Vimeo plugin. For this, system relevant data, such as use times, and hardware and software used are collected and user profiles compiled. This involves using cookies.

If you activate a sub-page of our website on which the New Relic plugin is active, a direct connection is established with the New Relic servers. New Relic is informed of this with regard to the data listed under II.1 Log files.  If you have a user account with New Relic and are logged in, New Relic may assign your visit to your account.

For information on the exact purpose and extent of data collection and processing by New Relic, as well as rights in this regard and the setting options protecting your personal privacy, please refer to the data protection information of New Relic:

If you do not want data collected by New Relic, you can prevent this at any time by disabling cookies in your browser settings.

3. Web statistics

a. Piwik

This website uses Piwik, an open-source software for statistical evaluation of visitor access. Piwik is based on the use of cookies, JavaScript, and tracking pixels, and it enables us to analyse how you interact with our website. In this regard, the data described under II. 1 are collected using Piwik.

The information about your use of our website that is stored in cookies is transferred only to our servers. It is not transferred to other servers. Your IP address is anonymised immediately after processing and prior to being stored on our servers. This means that data collected using Piwik cannot be attributed to a specific person.

In your browser, you can freely choose whether the Piwik cookie can be stored on your computer. If you decide against it, click on the following link in order to store the Piwik deactivation cookie in your browser.

Your visit to this website is currently recorded by Piwik web analysis. Click here so that your visit is no longer recorded.

Even where you have in general deactivated the storage of cookies in the browser that you use, the Piwik cookie is not stored on your computer.

JavaScript and tracking pixels collect various information about the user’s computer (e.g. IP address, time of page access, browser version, and the existence of cookies that had previously been placed by the same servers). However, tracking pixels are used only if the use of JavaScript was deactivated in your browser.

You have the ability to deactivate JavaScript calls in your browser. In addition, you can deactivate tracking pixels by refusing or deactivating the cookies associated with them.

IV. Use of Google Maps API

This website uses Google Maps to display interactive maps and generate directions. Google Maps is a map service from Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, California 94043, USA. By using Google Maps, information about the use of this website, including your IP address and the (start) address entered as part of the route planner function is sent to Google in the USA.

When you visit a page on our website that contains Google Maps, your browser establishes a direct connection with the Google servers. The map content is sent from Google directly to your browser and incorporated from here into the website. We cannot therefore influence the scope of the data collected in this way by Google. As far we are aware, this data includes the following as a minimum:

  • date and time of your visit to the website concerned,
  • Internet address or URL of the webpage visited,
  • IP address,
  • the (start) address entered as part of route planning.

We have no influence on the further processing and use of data by Google and can therefore accept no responsibility for this.

For information on the purpose and extent of data collection and additional processing and use of data by Google, as well your rights in this regard and the setting options protecting your personal privacy, please refer to the Google data protection information.
